Church Crookham & Fleet Garden Society held its AGM on Saturday 25th January 2025. The main focus of the meeting was the stepping down of our Chairman Alec Grant.
Alec has been Chairman for at least 10 years and his hard work and commitment to the Society has kept it going over these past few years. The Society is very grateful for the work he has put in and very pleased he will continue as a member, attending our events and trading shed.
Our new Chairperson is Helen Howard, who has been a member for about 10 years and has been part of the show committee for the last 2/3 years. She had planned to co-chair with Alec, but as circumstances have now changed, she is happy to step up and take on the role. Especially, as she has a small, dedicated team of committee members and volunteers supporting the Society. But we are always on the look out for new volunteers to join us and get involved.
The trading shed had managed to stay open last year, even without a trading shed secretary to run it. No mean feat and many thanks go to those committee members and volunteers that went the extra mile to repair it and keep it stocked.
Jill Thomas has now taken over the running of the shed. Any requests to volunteer (we still have lots of spaces to fill) please direct to Jill at jill@just2.me.uk. The shed is having a fresh coat of paint and is getting restocked for opening on Saturday 8th February 10am – 11.30am and every Saturday thereafter.
Re-elected officers are as follows:
Secretary – Liz Kirton
Treasurer – Caroline Morris
Show Committee – Jo Wilson
Membership will remain at £5 for the year and renewals can be done at the trading shed/ Spring show or via bank transfer. Bank details as follows:

It was lovely to have a chat and catch up with everyone at the end. Lots of ideas and thoughts were exchanged on going forward. On 1st February from 10am -12pm we will be promoting the Society by having a table at a Seed Swap in the Harlington Centre organised by Greening Fleet. We will be in the old Café area and the Repair café will also be running. Please drop in and say hello if you are in town as we love to chat about our gardening.
And finally, the Spring Show is on Saturday 8th March, the show guide is on the website and copies available at the trading shed. (Non-members can enter free of charge, so please do invite friends and neighbours to come along and enter a class or two). Details at ccgsoc.org.uk.
Any queries, please contact Helen Howard at helenmhoward@icloud.com or 07754706958
